Swimmer was in difficulty between Whitesands and Porthseli

ON THURSDAY  (Jul 20) at 4.25pm St Davids RNLI inshore lifeboat launched on service, to a report of a swimmer in difficulties between Whitesands and Porthseli.

The lifeboat immediately commenced a shoreline search between these two locations.

At approximately 5.20pm the UK coastguards tasked St Davids RNLI all-weather lifeboat to join the search, by which time coastguard teams from St Davids, Fishguard and Broad Haven, together with a coastguard rescue helicopter 187, were also on scene.

RNLI lifeguards were also involved.

While the search was being carried out at 6.15pm information was received from the coastal teams that the swimmer had exited the sea as was safely ashore.

With this information, all units were stood down, the inshore lifeboat then returned to station while the all-weather lifeboat proceeded to St Brides bay to carry out a prearranged exercise involving both Angle and Little & Broad Haven lifeboats.
