TWO PEOPLE charged with murder in connection with the death of, Betty Guy, an 84-year-old woman, have appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court this morning.
They are understood to be the daughter and grandson of the deceased. Police say that a recent investigation has lead to two arrests.
Police were seen questioning residents in Hill Croft, Johnston about Mrs Guy last year.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed the arrests, saying: “Following a recent thorough investigation into the death of elderly Betty Guy in 2011.”
Barry Rogers, aged 32 of High Street in Fishguard, and Penelope John, aged 50 of Maes Y Derri in St Dogmaels, have indicated they will plead not guilty to a joint charge of the murder of an elderly woman in 2011 at a future hearing.
Defence solicitor, Katy Hanson said the pair ‘strongly deny the offences’.
Magistrates sent John and Rogers to be dealt with on Friday (Jul 21) at Swansea Crown Court. They were both remanded in custody until their trial.
According to newspaper reports at the time, Betty Guy died at her home on November 7, 2011, aged 84 years.
She lived in Hill Croft, Johnston.
Her funeral took place on Friday, November 11, 2011. The service was at 10:45 am at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, followed by a memorial service at Johnston Baptist Chapel at 1pm.
