75-year-old sent to Crown Court over child pornography

A 75-YEAR-OLD man who was found to be in possession of category A, B and C indecent images of children, is to be sent to Swansea Crown Court it was decided today (Mar 28).

Michael Gouldingay of Scandinavia Heights in Saundersfoot, pleaded guilty to being in possession of 27 category A images, 22 category B images and 16 category C images of children.

Prosecutor, Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, told the magistrates in Haverfordwest that he felt the case was too serious to be dealt with in a magistrates court, and therefore must be sent to Crown.

He said: “Police executed a search at Gouldingay’s home address and seized computers, laptops and memory sticks.

“A number of category A, B and C images were found. They were not just images, a number of videos were also recovered, one of which was two hours long, showing ales engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a number of children from the age of 8-years-old.

“It was a movie, I suppose, that lasted a considerable amount of time and was very graphic.”

Defence solicitor, Mark Layton, informed the magistrates that they could deal with the matter at Haverfordwest Law Court, if they felt that their sentencing powers were sufficient.

He also informed the magistrates that Gouldingay is of clean character, and entered an early guilty plea and made full and frank admissions.

However, magistrates sent Gouldingay to Swansea Crown Court to be sentenced on April 28 at 10am.

Chair of the bench, Cllr David Simpson informed the defendant that, having been convicted of the offence, he must attend a police station to tell them, and must give his name, date of birth, national insurance number and his address within three days.

He was released on unconditional bail.
